Pets are a good companion and most people love to keep them in their homes apart from that at times they can be affected by pests. Flea allergy dermatitis is a very common skin disease in pets such as cats and dogs which is associated with flea bites. A lot of itching and scratching is caused by the skin disease in pets and in turn leads to hair loss. Also associated with flea bites on the other hand is anemia. Signs of anemia in an animal can be; weariness, pale skin, chills and shortness of breath. During peak seasons, a lasting impact towards the animals’ health and happiness can be achieved by avoiding the pet from full infestation from the fleas maybe. A combination of the flea waste and blood that develops as the flea bites and sucks blood out of the pets is the flea dirt. If one passes a moist towel over the flea dirt it will leave a brownish red stain and therefore if a person is not sure whether the spots are flea dirt they can pass a moist towel over it. Excessive chewing and scratching is another sign that an animal is infested with fleas. An itching sensation on the animal is caused by the saliva that is secreted by the fleas which results to a lot of scratching. Injuries can be caused on the skin of the animal by scratching hence wounds and also flea allergy dermatitis can be caused and other secondary bacterial infections because of the open wounds.
